Feeling from the Heart - Parenting with The Great Shift in Consciousness

The shift, the change, the expression of humanity is changing. We are here to feel and we are only just remembering this. So many of us have forgotten, right from birth, that it is not ok to feel. Our feelings are shut down and we must work to remember, to feel safe enough and to feel our feelings.

This great awakening that so many are talking about, the big shift that has been prophesied is for us to move from our mind to our heart. We must remember that our connection to ourself is more than just our mind. We must remember to feel our whole body. I love what Kiesha Crowther "Little Grandmother" says:

“If you listen, none of the indigenous elders or wisdom keepers on our planet are saying, “Now you must go and do something.” They are saying, “Be.” They are telling us to be the change, to focus on “being” rather than on doing, for once.”

After watching Avatar the other night (finally!), it came at the perfect time for me. FEEL nature. She is all around you. She is you. You are Nature. Get outside and BE with her. Nature can calm your nerves, lower your anxiety levels and all the hormones that race around keeping you in a state of stress – change - when you spend time in nature. Avatar blows me away, for the fact that James Cameron started creating it 10 years ago when the technology wasn’t even available to create his visions.  10 years! How far have we come as a Human race in 10 years? Yes we have advanced a lot in technology and buildings and in so many ways, yet, the most pressing issues of hurt, pain and loneliness and bad health are growing rapidly without a clear answer and solution other than a pill to cover the symptoms. And all that has been created has come from the mind. Our Human mind is very clever, we think about something, then we move our body to create it. But what has it done for Mother Earth? How have we supported Her, what have we given back to Her? Why are things seemingly getting worse and no one knows how to change the pain and destruction we have created?

We have forgotten this precious living organism that supports us as we walk on Her, that supports our home as we build on Her. That grows food for us to eat, that allows us oxygen to breathe. When we are outside in Nature, our energy lines up with that. We feel revived, fresh and renewed.  Being in Nature actually cleans and opens our energy centres. If you are conscious of your feet on the ground, the warm sun on your skin and the breeze in your hair – it is 10 times more powerful. In this moment that you are conscious of your feet on the ground, the warm sun on your skin and the breeze in your hair – in this moment, you are HERE. You are FEELING. You are PRESENT. You are BEING. This is what the new shift in Consciousness is all about. FEELING. BEING here NOW.

You don’t need to DO anything in this moment but be here now. If you think you SHOULD be doing something else – don’t stress, it is just your mind trying to get you away from this gorgeous moment of RIGHT NOW, FEELING your feet on the ground, FEELING the warm sun on your skin, FEELING the breeze in your hair. If you FEEL that you want to do something  - this is what you are meant to be doing. When you tune into what your heart is telling you to do right now, you are in the flow.

This flow, saves you time, it helps you to get things done faster and allows your body to heal quickly. The flow is like ocean waves. It is waves of energy that change and shift with the currents of the Universe, just like the currents in the ocean. Your heart feels this energy, just like Mother Nature. When you tune into your heart, you are tuning into the currents of energy, just like turning on a gps in a boat, that show you the ocean currents. If you are moving with the current, you save on fuel, time and resources. When you tune into your heart and move with the energy currents of the Universe, you are saving time, fuel (physical energy) and precious resources (time, money, health). The biggest thing that comes into play here is Trust.

“How can I tune into my heart and take a nap in the middle of the day when it has been raining for days, there is so much washing to be done and the first sunny day, you want me to take a day time nap?” I hear you say. “How can I trust what my heart is saying when all my life I have been told that my feelings (heart centre) cannot be trusted - that they are not important?”

When we are children if we are not given the time, space and connection from our main care-givers to be heard in our feelings, then we learn to close down what we feel. We listen to our head and do what we think we ‘should’ do to get approval, connection and love from the ones that are our prominent care-givers as we grow up. Perhaps when you were growing up, if you cried, you got sent to your room to ‘work it out’. Perhaps when you were crying you got told to ‘stop or you would be given something to cry about’. Perhaps you were completely ignored. Maybe, when you were a baby, you were hushed, rocked, given a dummy, and were made to cry it out in your cot, all alone in your room. If you can imagine yourself as any of these, then you have learnt to shut down your feelings. You have learnt to change the way you act, to cover the way you feel, to protect yourself from being hurt anymore and to do something else to get by and be accepted by people.

There is hope. Through healing our own hurts and pain we can learn to accept, love and nurture the way we FEEL. And most of all TRUST the way we feel. How many times have you had a gut feeling about something that turned out right and you didn’t listen/trust it and then beat yourself up for not listening? As children, when we are shut down in what we feel - by the adults around us ignoring, belittling and stopping our feelings - we start to question and distrust ourselves because the adults around us are right. They are our teachers and they are right.

It is important as parents to become conscious of our own feelings, take responsibility for our thoughts, actions and feelings and heal past pain and hurt to be present for our children’s feelings. Many times, it is our own hurt and pain from our childhood that is holding us back from allowing our children to fully feel their feelings. No, for us to be COMFORTABLE with them fully feeling their feelings. They don’t need any help to fully feel what they are feeling – it is us that doesn’t want to hear it. When a child cries, the first thing an adult tries to do, is stop it. “It’s okay, don’t worry about it. We can get another one.” What is the intention of this? Stopping the child’s feelings – because we don’t want to feel our own.

We don’t consciously realize that hearing the child’s crying is subconsciously reaching in and opening that very tight lid on the bottle of our own crying that has not been expressed from all the hurts and pain we experienced as a child. As children, our feelings were stopped and therefore held in the body. The energy stays there rather than free flowing. Much like a dam in a river. It is held back, held back, held back until there is too much and it has to go somewhere. It either cracks and bursts through (anger, raging), spills over and gushes down (constantly crying), or it stagnates and turns putrid (cancer and other physical and mental dis-eases). Tears have a definite purpose to our physical, let alone emotional body. Just like all the other means of elimination for our body, it is a very real, definite and needed purpose. Our tears are just one emotion that we feel. We must accept the whole scale of emotions in ourselves and our children.

When we start to grasp this concept, we start to shift from our mind space to our heart space. We start to connect the two and allow our heart to become dominant. We start to trust ourselves again and be comfortable with feelings.  By being here in this moment, we are feeling. With a supportive listening ear, we can move through feelings and allow ourselves the gift of being more present in this moment. As a Human race we have created a lot of gifts and a lot of destruction. Avatar shows this greatly. They live from the heart. They are connected, they are in tune. They FEEL. We can too and this is the New Shift in Consciousness. To FEEL, to be here now. As we walk to the beat of our own heart we are connecting back with all living things. Mother Earth included. Can you imagine what the Human race can achieve when everybody is Living from the Heart and Heart, Mind and Body are once again connected?
